The Mills

The Mills

Nan Fung Group
Project Overview
The Mills is a landmark revitalization project spearheaded by Nan Fung Group1. This ambitious endeavor transformed the Group's historical cotton mills into a vibrant techstyle and cultural hub, comprising a business incubator, an experiential retail shopfloor, and a textile arts museum1. I was involved in the project to redesign the website, aiming to reflect the unique character of this innovative space.
My role
Working collaboratively with another designer in the team, I contributed to developing the design concept and defining the art direction. Our responsibilities included creating illustrations, mood boards, layouts, and a comprehensive style guide. While I focused on designing the main section pages, my colleague handled the sub-pages, ensuring consistency with the overarching style we established.
The Mills represents a fascinating juxtaposition of Hong Kong's industrial heritage and its cutting-edge futureOur design concept aimed to capture this transformation from a traditional cotton mill to a dynamic techstyle hub and business incubator. To achieve this, we incorporated illustrations into each section, many featuring iconic Hong Kong elements

‍This approach allowed us to visually narrate the evolution from traditional to contemporary, celebrating both the city's rich cultural legacy and its modern, energetic spirit.By blending historical references with contemporary design elements, we created a visual language that resonates with The Mills' unique identity as a place where Hong Kong's textile heritage meets innovative techstyle initiatives

‍This design strategy not only enhances the user experience but also reinforces The Mills' position as a cultural landmark bridging past and future.
